Say what kind of script you need and what happens in it. Add who appears or speaks, and the length, tone and format. Hemmingway writes either a short scene in script format, with a heading, action lines and names above the dialogue, or a video script with the spoken words and brief notes on what is shown.
It sticks to the facts you give. In a video about your own shop it will not make up an offer, a date or a claim. In a fictional scene it invents the lines and keeps your characters and events.
What makes a script work
- Write for the ear. Nobody can re-read a spoken line. Short sentences, one thought each, and words you can say in one breath.
- Count words, not pages. About 130 spoken words fill a minute. Ask for a word count and the script fits the slot.
- In a video, open on the interesting thing. The first line decides whether anyone stays for the second. Save your name and the greeting for later.
- In a scene, write only what a camera sees. "She is furious" is not an action line. "She puts the cup down too carefully" is.

Asked for a 60-second video script for a bakery's page about why they start baking at 3am, shown through the ovens, the first loaf and the first customer at 7, spoken to camera in a warm, plain tone with shot notes, an opening along these lines is what to expect:

Bread takes as long as it takes. If you want a loaf at seven, somebody has to be here at three.

Read it against a timer before you film. If it runs over, ask the chat to take out twenty words.
Scene or video
For film, stage or a sketch, say so in the first field and you get script format. One scene, one place and one turn works best. For a video, name the platform and the length.
