Hemmingway Unlocked is the adults-only side of Hemmingway. It is an uncensored AI for writing and chat: it writes sex between adults, explicit and in full, and dark, violent stories, and it does not stop a scene to lecture you. It is not "anything goes". There is a short list of things it never writes, and the whole list is printed on this page. It runs in your browser at wise.hemmingway.io, your chats stay on your device, and it is free to try with no card.
If you searched for an uncensored AI chat, an NSFW AI writer or an AI that does not refuse adult roleplay, this is that, with its rules in plain sight.
What it writes
- Adult fiction. Sex between adults, explicit and in full, without fading to black unless you ask for that.
- Dark stories. Horror, war, crime and grim fantasy, with the violence and fear left in.
- Roleplay. You set the scene and the characters, it plays its part and stays in it.
- Ordinary chat and writing, for adults. The same app as Hemmingway, with an uncensored model behind it.
Consensual kink and dark stories are fine. It writes text only. It does not make images.
What it never writes
A few things it never writes, however it is asked: not in a story, not as roleplay, and not because someone agreed.
Never in anything sexual:
- Anyone under 18, or an adult playing someone under 18.
- A real person: someone famous, someone you know, or a thin disguise of one.
- Animals.
- Family, including step, half, adoptive and foster family.
- Anyone who does not want it or cannot say yes.
Never at all:
- Torture or mutilation, or help hurting a real person.
- Stalking, doxxing, harassing or scamming someone.
- Weapons, explosives, making drugs, or harmful software.
- Help with suicide or self-harm.

Your chats stay on your device
Chats in Unlocked are kept in your browser, on the device you are using. They are not saved to your account or to our servers, and they are never used to train a model. Each message goes to the model to be answered and the answer comes back to your device.
The cost of that is real. Chats do not sync between devices, and clearing your browser's data deletes them for good. Copy anything you want to keep. The privacy policy has the detail.
What it costs
Unlocked is free to try, and the trial needs no card. After the trial it is a monthly membership, Plus, Pro or Max, paid through Patreon by card, PayPal or Apple Pay. If you would rather not use Patreon, you can pay as you go with credit in USDC on Base. A membership also opens regular Hemmingway on the same plan.
How to start
- Open wise.hemmingway.io.
- Confirm that you are 18 or over, and read the rules it shows you.
- Sign in, or make an account.
- Write what you want, in your own words. Say who the characters are, that they are adults, and how dark or explicit you want it.

The API
Unlocked has an OpenAI-compatible API at https://wise.hemmingway.io/v1. You make a key inside Unlocked, in the account menu under API keys. A key needs a membership: the free trial is for the app. It works in tools that take a custom OpenAI-style address, SillyTavern among them. Using it with SillyTavern and uncensored AI APIs go through the set-up.
Where it does not fit
- You want a library of ready-made characters. Unlocked is a chat and writing app. You describe the character yourself. A character site will suit you better.
- Nothing may leave your computer. Then run an open model yourself. Open models for roleplay shows how. Unlocked's model is not published yet. We plan to open-source it soon.
- You want pictures. It writes text.

Is Hemmingway Unlocked free?
It is free to try, and the trial needs no card. After the trial it needs a membership, Plus, Pro or Max, paid through Patreon, or credit paid in USDC on Base. A membership also opens regular Hemmingway on the same plan.
Is Hemmingway Unlocked really uncensored?
It is uncensored for what adults write: explicit sex between adults, and dark and violent fiction, without refusals or lectures. It is not without rules. It never writes anything sexual involving anyone under 18, a real person, animals, family or anyone who does not consent, and it never helps with hurting a real person, weapons, making drugs or self-harm. The whole list is on this page.
Who can use it?
Adults. You must be 18 or over, or older where the law where you live sets a higher age. It asks you to confirm that before anything else.
Are my chats private?
Your chats are kept in your browser on your own device, not in your account and not on our servers, and they are never used for training. A message is sent to the model to be answered and the answer comes back to you. Clearing your browser's data deletes your chats.
How is it different from Hemmingway?
It is the same app with a different model behind it. Hemmingway is for everyday writing: messages, emails, replies and stories. Unlocked is for adults and writes the explicit and dark material Hemmingway will not. Unlocked keeps chats on your device only, where Hemmingway can sync them through your account.
Can I run the Unlocked model myself?
Not yet. Its weights are not published, and we plan to open-source it soon. Hemmingway-1, the regular model, has open weights, and the model card says how to run it.
