If you want adult stories and roleplay from a service made only for adults, with its rules in writing and your chats kept on your own device, the alternative to Perchance we make is Hemmingway Unlocked. If you like Perchance because you open a page and start with no sign-up, or because its chat draws pictures, stay with Perchance: Unlocked asks you to sign in, and it writes text only.
Hemmingway Unlocked is our uncensored AI for adults. We make Hemmingway Unlocked. What we say about the others comes from their own sites.
What Perchance is
Perchance's welcome page describes a platform for creating and sharing random generators. Anyone can make one by writing lists of words and phrases, and share it by its address. Its AI pages are generators like any other, built on its AI plugins:
- AI Story Generator. It writes a long story paragraph by paragraph from your overview and instructions. You can edit the text as you go, and it adds summary paragraphs to help the AI remember a long story.
- AI Character Chat. You make a character, or talk to the default one, with a narrator on hand, and it can make pictures inside the chat.
- AI Image Generator. Text to image, in dozens of art styles.
- No sign-up. Its page titles say free, unlimited and no sign-up. Its privacy page says an account is only for making generators of your own.
- Paid for by ads. Its plugin pages say the AI runs on server GPUs and is paid for by ads shown to people who are not logged in.
- Where your work lives. The story and chat pages say your work is stored in your browser, not on a server, and ask you to export backups.
- What it writes. Its plugin page says the AI may write adult material if you ask for it, likens that to a web search, and asks people to prompt responsibly.
Why people look elsewhere
- A place made for adults, with the rules written down. Perchance is a general site for anyone's generators. Some people want a service that is adults-only by design, with a list of what it will not write.
- Ads. The AI is paid for by ads for anyone not logged in.
- Pages made by strangers. Anyone can publish a generator, and Perchance's own privacy page says to treat each page like a random page on the internet and never type in anything private.
- An API, or a model that stays put. Its welcome page says Perchance has no official API, and its image plugin page says the models are upgraded as new ones come out. If you build your own tools, you may want something you can pin down.

Staying with Perchance
If what you want is a page that works the moment it loads, with no account, and pictures in the same place as the words, Perchance already does that, by its own pages. Its story and chat pages keep your work in your browser, much as Unlocked does. If those are the things you need, staying is the right call.
SpicyChat
SpicyChat's docs describe a site for chatting with characters made by its users. Every user must be 18 or over, every chatbot must be portrayed as an adult, and bots with explicit content must be marked NSFW. It has group chats and a lorebook, and on its higher paid tiers it can draw a picture of what is happening in the chat. Pick it if you liked Perchance's character chat and its pictures, and want an adults-only site. SpicyChat alternatives goes further.
NovelAI
NovelAI's docs describe an editor where you write and the AI continues, with an edit history that branches like a timeline, and a Lorebook for your characters, places and factions. Its site says your prompts are encrypted, and it has an image generator too. It suits people who outgrew the story generator and want a fuller editor, with pictures in the same account. NovelAI alternatives covers the story side.
A model on your own computer
KoboldCpp's README describes a single program that runs open models on your own Windows, Linux or Mac computer, with its own web page for chat, stories and roleplay. With the right model files it can make pictures as well. No account is involved, and with a local model what you type stays on your machine. The cost is hardware: models that write well need a strong graphics card. KoboldAI alternatives covers the local route.
If you liked filling in a generator
Our NSFW story generator and AI roleplay generator are short forms in the same spirit. They ask for the idea, the characters and the tone, then open Unlocked with it filled in. Unlike Perchance, you confirm you are 18 or over and sign in first, and what you typed waits for you there.
Where Hemmingway Unlocked fits
Hemmingway Unlocked is the adults-only side of Hemmingway, at wise.hemmingway.io. It asks you to confirm you are 18 or over, shows you its rules, then asks you to sign in.
- What it writes. Sex between adults, explicit and in full. Dark, violent fiction: horror, war, crime. Roleplay where you set the scene and it plays its part, and ordinary chat. It does not stop a scene to lecture you.
- What it never writes. Anything sexual involving anyone under 18 or an adult playing someone under 18, a real person, animals, family (step, half, adoptive and foster included) or anyone who does not want it or cannot say yes. Never torture or help hurting a real person, stalking, doxxing, harassing or scamming, weapons, explosives, making drugs, harmful software, or help with suicide or self-harm. The full list is in our terms, and every answer has a Report button.
- Where chats live. In your browser, on your device, not on our servers, and never used for training. Each message passes through our servers to be answered and is not kept. Chats do not sync, and clearing your browser's data deletes them.
- Cost. Free to try, with no card. After the trial, memberships start at $9 a month. Its page has the rest.
- API and weights. An OpenAI-compatible API for members, which works in SillyTavern, and public weights for anyone with a big enough GPU set-up.

Where it does not fit
- It needs a sign-in. You confirm your age and make an account. If no sign-up is the whole point, stay with Perchance or run a model yourself.
- No pictures. It writes text only. For images, Perchance's image generator, SpicyChat or NovelAI.
- No generators, character library or character builder. You describe the character and the scene in your first message, or use one of the forms above.
- No app-store app. It runs in your browser.
How to choose
- Adult stories and roleplay from an adults-only service, with chats on your device: try Hemmingway Unlocked.
- A page that just works, with no account, and pictures: stay with Perchance.
- Adult character chat with pictures in the chat: SpicyChat. Read its rules first.
- Long stories in an editor, with a lorebook and images: NovelAI.
- No account at all, and nothing leaving your computer: KoboldCpp with an open model.
Common questions
Is Perchance AI free?
Its pages say its AI generators are free, unlimited and need no sign-up. They also say the GPUs are paid for by ads shown to people who are not logged in.
Is there a Perchance alternative for adult stories with no sign-up?
Hemmingway Unlocked is not one: it asks your age and needs an account. A model you run on your own computer needs no account at all, and Perchance itself needs none.
Does Hemmingway Unlocked keep my chats in the browser, like Perchance?
Yes. Perchance's story and chat pages say your work is kept in your browser, and so are Unlocked's chats: never saved to our servers, never used for training. Each message passes through our servers to be answered and is not kept. In both, clearing your browser's data deletes your work, so keep copies.
Can Hemmingway Unlocked make pictures like Perchance?
No. It writes stories, roleplay and chat, in text. If pictures matter, keep an image tool alongside it.
Does Hemmingway Unlocked have an API?
Yes, where Perchance's welcome page says it has no official one. Unlocked's API is OpenAI-compatible, at https://wise.hemmingway.io/v1, and works in SillyTavern. The key is made inside Unlocked and needs a membership. The set-up page has the steps.
