What makes it work
- Bring a position. "Yes on balance, with exemptions" gives the essay a spine.
- Give the evidence you have read. It can only use what it is given.
- Include the other side. One honest point against, answered, is worth more than a fourth point in favour.
- Ask for an outline first. It is quicker to fix the order of five lines than of five paragraphs.
