Press release generator

A free press release generator. Give the news, the facts and a real quote, and Hemmingway writes a press release in the standard format, with nothing made up.

Opens Hemmingway with this filled in. Free to try, no card needed.

Put in the news, the facts a journalist would need and, if you have one, a real quote. Hemmingway lays it out as a press release: a plain headline, a first paragraph with who, what, when and where, the details in order of importance, the quote, and your contact line. You check every fact and send it yourself.

It writes from your facts only, and that includes the quote. Give it someone's words and they go in as given. Leave the quote field empty and there is no quote: made-up words in a real person's mouth are worse than none.

What makes it work

  • Have news. An opening, a launch, an appointment, a result, an event with a date.
  • Put the whole story in the first paragraph. An editor may use that paragraph and nothing else.
  • Give a quote that adds something. "We have been turning people away on Saturdays for two years" tells the reader why. "We are delighted" tells them nothing.

An example

Asked for a release with the news that Tidewater Bakery opens a second shop at 12 Quay Street, Falmouth, on Saturday 18 October, the facts that it has been a family bakery in Falmouth since 2009 and that the new shop creates 8 jobs, and these words from the owner, Tess Penrose: "We have been turning people away on Saturdays for two years. Now we will not have to." A release along these lines is what to expect:

Tidewater Bakery to open second shop on Quay Street
Tidewater Bakery, a family bakery in Falmouth since 2009, will open a second shop at 12 Quay Street on Saturday 18 October. The new shop creates 8 jobs.
"We have been turning people away on Saturdays for two years. Now we will not have to," said Tess Penrose, the owner.

Sending it

Check every date and name, and show the quote to the person quoted. Then send it to the journalist who covers your area or subject, with two lines of your own above it: the AI email writer drafts that note and the email subject line generator writes its subject. For your own channels, the LinkedIn post generator tells the same news less formally.

A listed company's results, or a claim about health, needs someone qualified to approve it before it goes out.

Common questions

Is the press release generator free?

Yes. Hemmingway has a free trial with no card needed, and this tool opens it with your answers filled in. You sign up once, and the press release is written in the chat.

What is the format of a press release?

A headline, a first paragraph with who, what, when and where, the details in order of importance, a quote, a line about the organisation and a press contact.

How long should a press release be?

One page, about 300 to 400 words. Anything more belongs in a fact sheet or on your website.

Will it sound like AI?

It is built not to. Hemmingway-1, the model behind it, came first on sounding like a person in our own blind test, Human-Likeness. A press release is meant to be plain, so watch for praise: cut any adjective about your own organisation.
