Say who interviewed you, for which job, and one thing from the conversation that stayed with you. Hemmingway writes a short thank-you email around that one thing: thanks for their time, the detail you remembered, that you still want the job, and a sign-off. It takes a minute, which matters, because this email is best sent within a day.
The detail has to come from you. Hemmingway was not in the room, so it cannot know what was said, and it will not make up a moment or a compliment to fill the gap.
What makes it work
- Pick one thing they said. A problem they described, a project coming up, a question that made you think. It shows you listened, and it cannot be copied from a template.
- Add something only if it is new. The answer you thought of on the way home is worth a sentence. A summary of your CV is not.
- One email for each interviewer. Run the form again with a different detail for each person. Panels compare notes.
