Nothing in the letter comes from anywhere but your answers. It does not add a first meeting, a holiday or a pet name you never mentioned, so a thin form gives a thin letter. You read the draft, change the words that are not yours, and give it to them yourself.
What makes it work
- Write small, exact things. "You read road signs aloud on long drives" says more than "you make every day better".
- Two moments are enough. A letter with ten memories turns into a list.
- Say how the two of you talk. If you have never called them "my darling", ask for plain words, so the letter sounds like the person they know.
- Copy it out by hand. Copying gives you one more chance to change a line.
