What makes it work
Vows go wrong when they could be said by anyone to anyone.
- Start from a moment, not a feeling. "You leave the hall light on when I'm late" carries more than "you are always there for me".
- Promise things you will do. A small promise you can keep on a Tuesday is stronger than "forever".
- Agree the length and tone with your partner. Not the words. Only so that one of you does not speak for thirty seconds and the other for five minutes.
